December Instructor Newsletter

It’s been a busy 2022 for all of us! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season!  Whether you celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, or the beginning of Kwanzaa today, I hope you’ve had time to relax and enjoy the Holidays.  This has been a super busy season for many of us and I’ve been thinking a lot about the upcoming year!

Teaching Safety as a Small Business Development Series
Starting in January we will be holding training sessions on Monday nights from 6:15-7:15 pm EST. These will be both in-person at the Training Center in Hampton and on Zoom.

Here’s the schedule:

  • Monday 1/9/23:  Getting organized as a small business.  Business structures, resources to help get set up, insurance, state/local registration.
  • Monday 1/16/23: Do you have the right stuff?  Equipment requirements and where you can buy stuff.
  • Monday 1/23/23: Where can you hold classes?  Renting space, workplace classes, on-location classes, etc.
  • Monday 1/30/23: How will people know you teach CPR?  Getting found by your audience. Websites and social media.
  • Monday 2/6/23: How much does it cost?  How to price your classes.
  • Monday 2/13/23: How do they sign up?  ECC class connector, online registration systems and options.
  • Monday 2/20/23: Marketing.  Who to market to, figuring out your audience, marketing materials and what you’re allowed to use the AHA logo on.
These are drop in/join online sessions.  You do not need to register or sign up to participate.  You can attend one or all or none.  These are being planned and held to benefit instructors who would like the information.

If you are attending in-person at the Training Center – I will  be there by 6:05 pm.  I am dropping my daughter off at Seacoast United in Hampton at 6 pm and will be running these while she is at practice.

Training Center Fees 2023
As mentioned in the last newsletter, we are updating and changing our fee schedule.  We are streamlining fees to keep things manageable and cover the expenses to run the training center.  We have discontinued the annual fee and are only charging for administrative services or eCards.

Instructor renewal fee – $45.  This covers course monitoring, your instructor card, and your provider card if you need a separate provider card and is assessed every 2 years when you renew your instructor card.

eCard charges – remain the same.

  • BLS & Heartsaver K-12 eCards are $5
  • Heartsaver eCards are $20

Equipment rental or classroom rental fees – would be for any instructor who wants to rent equipment or the Training Center classroom for their classes.

If you belong to a Training Site under our Training Center please check with them on any charges and fees.

Instructor statistics and renewal process
As our Training Center has grown over the past year, we’ve been making some changes and looking at ways to streamline what we’re doing to provide the support you need as efficiently as possible.  To help out, you will be receiving a link in the January newsletter for an anonymous survey.  We’ll also be posting instructor and training center statistics.

Many of you will be renewing your instructor status in 2023.  Their are several steps in the instructor renewal process:

  • We will send you an instructor renewal form to fill out
  • We’ll also send you a BLS or Heartsaver exam to complete.
  • We’ll ask you when your next class is so that we can come and monitor it.  If you don’t have a class coming up, you can take over any class at the Training Center as your monitored class.
  • You will need to pay your renewal fee.
  • We’ll issue your new instructor card after your monitoring and paperwork is complete. If you also need a provider card we will issue that to you as well. There is no additional charge for a provider eCard.
Thanks so much for all that you do!  If you have any questions please email me at Gail@CoastalCPR.com or call/text 603-834-3177
