National EMS Week (May 18-25):
We Care. For Everyone.
From May 18-25, the American Heart Association proudly recognizes EMS Week 2025, a time dedicated to honoring the extraordinary efforts of EMS personnel who stand on the front lines of medicine. These dedicated professionals provide crucial prehospital treatment that can mean the difference between life and death for countless patients. This year’s theme, “We Care. For Everyone.”, underscores our gratitude to EMTs and paramedics, while also educating the public about the vital role EMS plays in our communities. We salute these heroes for their unwavering courage, dedication, and the lifesaving services they provide daily.
EMS Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the tireless efforts of EMS providers who work diligently to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our communities. The Association extends its heartfelt thanks to these brave individuals for their service and commitment to our shared mission of saving lives. We also invite you to learn more about our Mission: Lifeline® EMS recognition program. Launched in 2014, the program showcases prehospital agencies nationwide for excellence in heart attack and stroke care.
Remember, EMS personnel are always ready to spring into action, often overlooked until an emergency arises. This week, let’s celebrate and recognize their invaluable contributions. |
New Training Bulletin Release: Important Updates for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver® Instructor Renewal Requirements
We’re pleased to announce the release of a new Training Bulletin available on May 22, 2025. This update outlines important information about additional courses that now count toward BLS and Heartsaver Instructor renewal requirements.
Starting July 1, 2025, Instructors can earn up to 2 of the required 4 renewal credits by facilitating one of four community CPR courses, including:
- CPR in Schools® With First Aid
- CPR & First Aid in Youth Sports™
These video-led courses are easy to facilitate and designed to empower Instructors to share lifesaving skills with their communities. Plus, new Facilitated Course Rosters are now available to simplify documentation. See the links below to access the new facilitated course roster.
We encourage all Training Faculty, Training Center Coordinators, and Instructors to read the full bulletin for complete details on the updated renewal pathways and resources available to support you. See the links below to access the full training bulletin.
Staying informed on these updates is essential to maintaining compliance and continuing to deliver high-quality training across your organizations and communities. |
Now Available: Sample American Heart Association Provider eCards for Course Promotion
In response to strong interest from our Training Network, we’re pleased to announce the availability of sample American Heart Association Provider eCards, now posted on our website for download. These sample cards are a helpful tool for Training Centers (TCs), Training Sites (TSs), and Instructors to use when promoting Association courses on websites and other marketing materials.
Access the sample eCards and usage guidelines here.
Before using the sample eCards, please take a moment to carefully review the Association’s official guidelines for use. These guidelines outline important requirements regarding who may use the samples, how they may be displayed, and what restrictions apply. Following these guidelines helps maintain the integrity of the Association brand and protects your affiliation with the organization.
Please remember: misuse or failure to comply with the standards may result in revocation of usage rights or further action by the Association, including termination of the TC Agreement.
We encourage all TCCs to ensure their teams are informed and compliant.
Thank you for your continued commitment to excellence in CPR training. |

Geographical Training Boundaries
As stated in the American Heart Association Program Administration Manual (PAM), Training Centers (TCs) (including all affiliated Instructors and Training Sites) may only offer their courses in the geographic territory defined in their TC Agreement as the United States, excluding its territories. The excluded territories include American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
Generally, a TC is approved to offer Association CPR training only in its country of incorporation, however, the Association acknowledges that many Association Instructors and TCs have ongoing relationships within the international medical and safety communities.
If there is no local TC, Instructors can travel from a TC in a different country to offer provider training, after they have obtained approval from the Association’s ECC International Department. To obtain approval, an applicant must submit an International Training Application.
The application must be filled out completely and submitted at least 6 weeks before the start of the proposed training. Approval is not automatic. The applicant must also submit a letter of support from his or her TC as well as copies of the Association Instructor cards of all Instructors participating in the training. |
