eCards, Heartsaver Bundles, Training Central, and answering a few questions

Is the theme for this month’s newsletter.  Please let us know any questions you may have so we can answer them or include them in a future newsletter.

How quickly do I or my students receive eCards?

When you purchase eCards from the Training Center or from one of our Training Sites, it will take us 24-72 hours to issue or transfer them.  This might take a day or two longer if you are purchasing through a Training Site, but here’s the timeline on what we do at the Training Center.

eCards purchased (and rosters submitted) Monday-Thursday are typically issued w/in 24 hours or by the end of the following day.  eCards purchased on Friday will be issued on Monday.  eCards purchased Friday afternoon – Sunday night will be issued on Tuesday.  If Friday or Monday are a holiday, it will take 1 day longer.

The delay is because the credit card processing company (Stripe) transfers your payment to us on the above schedule.  Typically it’s the next day. However we’ve been tracking these and found we do not receive any money transfers over the weekend or on holidays.  Which means Friday payments are received on Monday and Friday afternoon – Sunday night will transfer on Tuesday.

Most of the time we have the inventory to transfer or issue your eCards within 24 hours.  However many of you have been pretty busy teaching classes, which is awesome!  When we receive multiple orders on a Friday afternoon, and some are for a lot of eCards, we are not always able to fill those orders if it would deplete our inventory.  Which means we have to wait for your payment to transfer to us so we can purchase more to transfer to you.

If you are purchasing through a Training Site, they may have to place an order with us to fill your request. They’re pretty speedy on this, but it could take an extra day depending upon the time the order is placed.

We switched eCard payments to the Jotform using Stripe because the payments transferred to us much more quickly than using My TA System so that we could fill your orders more quickly.

Sometimes we receive rosters but no eCard payment.  We’ll wait a day or two and if we don’t see a payment come through we’ll email you.

If you need to purchase eCards in bulk, or need your organization to pay for your eCards please let us know and we can set up invoicing for you.

Heartsaver Bundles can save you some $ if you buy eBooks or eLearning keycodes

We’ve emailed before about the Heartsaver Bundles, and they are all now posted in the Instructor Portal for purchase.  If you do Heartsaver blended learning this can save you up to $5 per student vs. buying keycodes and eCards separately.  eBooks are included with all blended learning keycodes.

You can purchase Heartsaver Bundles in the Instructor Portal.

When you purchase Heartsaver Bundles, the eCards will be transferred to your eCard inventory and eBook or blended learning keycodes will be emailed to you or transferred to your Training Central account.

What is Training Central and why would you want to use it?

Training Central is an AHA website for issuing keycodes and eBook links.  It allows you to maintain an inventory, issue them to your students, you can (sort of) track their progress, and you can download their course completion certificates.

You will see statuses of Assigned, Not Started (activated link but have not started the course), In Progress (working on course or need to take post-course survey) and Completed.  Completed will display the icon for the PDF course completion certificate.

You can assign students to groups to organize them and update them when they have completed their skills session.

We use Training Central for all of our on-site classes through the Training Center as it allows us to track and send reminders to students before their class to ensure they have completed the online portion before their skills session.

Another bonus is that if a student cancels from the skills session and they have not activated their link – you can revoke it and it will return to your inventory to be issued to another student.

Today I found out that when you purchase Heartsaver Blended Learning Bundles we can have them deposited directly into your Training Central account for you. We will just need your Training Central code.

If you are providing Heartcode or Heartsaver Skills Sessions, Training Central is an efficient way to issue and track your keycodes and students.  If you do not have a Training Central account and would like one please let us know so we can faciliate setting up your account.

What is Heartsaver K-12?

Heartsaver K-12 is a lower priced eCard for staff and students of K-12 schools.

Who can you issue these eCards to?  Teachers, students, school staff. They can work for public schools, private schools, charter schools, or special programs schools.  It just needs to be a school that has grades between Kindergarten and 12th grade.

Who can you not issue these eCards to?  Preschools, early intervention programs, contracted staff who are not employed by the school (school bus drivers or after school programs).

What course do you teach to issue this eCard?  Heartsaver CPR AED or Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED.  There is no option on this eCard for Heartsaver First Aid only.

If you are interested in the Heartsaver K-12 Blended Learning Bundle, the default is to include First Aid CPR AED. If you only need to provide CPR AED we can swap out the keycode from First Aid CPR AED at a lower cost.

Coming up….

Guidelines 2025 are coming on October 22nd!  We will be posting more about that when it gets closer as there will be updates for all instructors.

AHA has made updates over the past few months and to stay compliant we will be making policy updates on our end as well.  Many of our updates and changes will take effect this Fall in preparation for the Guidelines update.
