Important AHA BLS Exams Update

The current BLS and ACLS exams have been compromised.  We have to download new exams and destroy the old ones.

US TCCs: New Exam Versions for BLS and ACLS Provider Courses

Due to security compromises of both the BLS Provider and ACLS Provider exams available for printing and proctoring in classes, the AHA has been forced to create new exams for the BLS Provider and ACLS Provider courses . The new exams and answer keys are now labeled as versions C and D. NOTE: When viewing the Exams through your TCC account in Atlas, please disregard the “Last Modified” date, which is incorrect. All exams posted in the Exams section of Atlas are the latest available versions.

Given this security breach, AHA Training Center Coordinators must destroy exam versions A and B and use the new versions – C and D – of the exams for the respective BLS Provider and ACLS Provider courses. Beginning immediately, TCCs must only use the new exams.

Please remember that TCCs are responsible for the security and distribution of exams to AHA Instructors and AHA Faculty members aligned with their TC. TCCs may distribute exams in the original and complete Adobe PDF format via email.

Atlas Update: Emergency Maintenance this Week, Plus New Available Atlas Resources

On Wednesday, July 12, Atlas was taken offline for emergency maintenance to resolve a critical issue with the search functionality for the Training Center and Find a Class tools. During the outage, our technology team implemented enhancements to the databases that pull data for both of these features.

The outage was unexpected and, therefore should have been described on the site message as “emergency” and not “scheduled” maintenance. We apologize there was no notification to the Training Network in advance that this emergency maintenance would occur. In the future, we are working with our technical team to ensure that the site outage message reflects when the site is down due to an emergency.

We are sorry for the disruption to your business, and we thank the AHA Training Network for your continued patience. Our team is continuously reviewing your feedback to provide regular updates and develop new resources.

This week, we are pleased to share the following new resources now available on the Atlas Information & Resources page, which address frequent user inquiries:

  • The Atlas Tips: Email Notifications for Classes document provides information on why email notifications are not standard in Atlas, and how to set up your enrollment to Approval-based in order to receive notifications.
  • The Troubleshooting Tips: Insufficient Inventory guide includes considerations for finalizing a class roster and troubleshooting steps to assist users encountering the “Insufficient Inventory” message. This resource offers step-by-step instruction on how to work through this common issue.

Did you know there are detailed instructional videos in the Videos section of the Atlas Information & Resources page ? Atlas users are encouraged to visit the page regularly to stay up to date on the latest additions and use the available tools to enhance their experience managing training.

AHA Launches its First Individual Certification: Certified Professional by the American Heart Association – Telehealth

The transition to a virtual landscape amid the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a necessary component for providing safe and equitable access to care for all. As a champion of health equity who is committed to ensuring accessible, high-quality health care, the AHA proudly announces its first individual certification: Certified Professional by the American Heart Association – Telehealth.

With this new certification developed by the AHA Center for Telehealth, clinicians can now demonstrate their dedication to the growing field of telehealth. The certification aims to standardize training for health care professionals in virtual care delivery, increase skills and competencies in telehealth care delivery, and help to improve patient outcomes through the integration of telehealth. Following are the eligibility requirements:

  • A candidate must attest to the completion of a prerequisite telehealth education course (five-hour credit minimum).
  • A candidate must be a licensed medical professional.
  • A candidate may also be a student actively working towards becoming a licensed medical professional.
  • A candidate must complete and file the online application for the certification.
  • A candidate must take the professional certification exam online that can be purchased on the AHA’s Intelligo Professional Education Hub™.
  • A candidate must pay the required fee(s).
