| Dear US Training Network,
We are pleased to announce that the American Heart Association has released another round of updates to the Program Administration Manual (PAM). As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the Training Network and providing clear, consistent guidance, we strongly encourage all members of the Training Network, especially Training Center Coordinators, to review the updated PAM in its entirety. This resource is crucial for ensuring consistent best practices and high-quality CPR training across the network.
The updated PAM (log in required) includes several important revisions and clarifications intended to support operational consistency, enhance program quality, and address feedback received from the Training Network. We would like to highlight the following updates for your attention:
- Quality Assurance Policy: American Heart Association Training Centers are now required to have a written Quality Assurance Policy.
- Instructor Agreement: Previously, the American Heart Association recommended that Training Centers have a written agreement with their aligned Instructors. It is now required that American Heart Association Training Centers have a written agreement with their aligned Instructors. While the Heart Association will not be providing a standardized template for the Instructor Agreement, we do encourage TCCs to connect with their peers through the TCC Café (Atlas log-in required) to discuss best practices for an Instructor Agreement.
We understand that implementing operational and process changes across Training Centers takes time, and we appreciate the effort required to review, communicate, and apply these updates within your organization. To help support a smooth transition, the Heart Association is providing an implementation period through October 17, 2026.
During this transition timeframe, we encourage all Training Centers to review the updates carefully, communicate changes with Instructors and Training Faculty as needed, and begin incorporating the revised requirements into their processes and operations.
Please note that after the transition deadline, Training Centers who have not implemented the applicable updates may be considered out of compliance with their Training Center Agreement requirements. At that point, unresolved implementation gaps could become a compliance matter subject to review by the Compliance Team.
To help support the Training Network throughout this transition period, we will continue providing reminder communications, including updates featured in the ECC Beat, leading up to the transition deadline.
We appreciate your continued partnership and commitment to delivering high-quality resuscitation, education, and training. If you have any questions or need additional clarification regarding the PAM updates, please contact the Compliance Team at complianceadmin@heart.org.
Best regards,
The American Heart Association Team |
